Why not? Democrats are at the end of their wits. This is apparent within days
of Judge robert's nominations for Justice Sandra O'Connor's seat--not chief
justice's seat. By the way, I am a conservative.

My bet is no. I listened to most of the hearings. I don't like this guy.

I have to say that you missed the point.
Roberts is the most intellectually qualified nominee and has done a great job
in
the public hearing. With all the republicans backing him, he will sure be
confirmed. A lot of the democrats have already exclude the possiblility of
fillibuster, which is the only way that they can block his confirmation.

Totally agree with you. It looks like he will easily get confirmed.
JR is a smart, savvy lawyer with a relatively small paper trail. And he
seems to have the political skills required for him to be an effective
chief. If Dems want to pick a fight, they wouldn't pick this one, but the
nomination to replace swing-voting O'Connor.

But judging the poplitical wisdom demonstrated by President George W. Bush--
look how he plucked Judge Roberts from obscurity--I gather Democrats will be
denied that opportunities again. (On the other hand, Judge Roberts may not be
conservative after all.)

You guys right, he was recommended by the committee by a 18-0 vote.
Democrats suck.
