I don't know what law you are interested in. Assuming you are into patent
law, which the choice for the majority of us, you probaly want to think
twice. This is not meant to discourage you, but there are way too many law
students wanting to do patent law. It is scary. We were asked to introduced
ourselves in two recent courses, about 20% to one third of each class are
either current patent agents or want to practice patent law. They are mostly
American students. If you are not in school right no

I think our chinese students might have more chances in IP career in the
near future because of the beginning of IP business outsourcing to China.
That is what I was told in IP training by a U.S. patent attorney. Meanwhile,
My friends, who are lawyers trained in China, told me that if there is
increasing need for Chinese lawyer with U.S. J.D. degree.
By the way, I don't think our Chinese will have a great career future for
practising law in U.S. Obviously, we have language and culture disadvanta

IP is good for current job hunting.
But, international trade business bwt US and China is so huge, there are many
issues about that, for example antidumpling, international business contracts and so on
.
Also, there are many funds investing China, property law is also good.
The other way, do not forget, QDII will cause many business in US for
Chinese law layer practising here.
Immigration law just a small market.
By the way, there are few Chinese students studying law here. The tuition is so high

This is the thread that I have been looking for for a long time. I am very
excited to see the debate going on here. I recelty got a scientific advisor
position at an IP law firm and plan to work through the patent bar in a few
months. Technically, I have a Ph.D. degree in EE but no legal education.
I think IP is relatively easy to get into for majority of the Chinese
students, compared with other legal areas. But one should carefully consider
his/her career path before taking this route. Getting
