I cannot think of any theory on which you can sue the manufacturer.

On what theory? Negligence? Strict liability? Breach of warranty/contract?
None of these seems to work.

haha. No one force you to lift it. How can you sue them? But you still can
try. Normally they will list the weight of the item. So if you don't pay
attention on that, it is your own fault.
