Testimony under oath. If you are called or subpoenaed for a deposition, you are being called to testify about your personal knowledge of facts that relate to a lawsuit.
Really depends on location. Some states have no time limit at all. However, some commercial contract will specify where/how you can sue the other party. It may say that you can only sue them in their home county, then it will be subject to the law over there, I guess. I am not a lawyer.
