Do I have a case?# Law - 律师事务所

I hired some duct cleaner last weekend, in their ad, the price was very low.
But then they have lots of add-ons and the final price was around $1,400.
Then I called some other company and was told similar work will cost me only
around $500. I paid them by credit card. Should I call my credit card to
deny the charge and negotiate with the company? What is the best strategy to
work this out? Thanks in advance for your advice.

If you directly deny the charge, I guess they will have a case instead of
you.

Thanks for the response. What do you suggest me to do legally? Thanks.

This is all about contract. You need to find out the contract signed by both
sides. If this company did not fullfill their responsiblity, you have a
case, and vice versa. If you cancell the charge from your credit card
company, they may have a strong case against you. Becareful before you do
anything.

Contract is part of it, but not the only dimension. You may also threaten
the duct cleaners with a complaint of false advertising, probably with some
agency like Consumer Protection Bureau. Just call around the agencies in
your area.
I wouldn't dispute the credit card charge, either.
