请教：
我是一个CS的Ph.D.,毕业两年半了，在一个teahing school教书，在等绿卡。我
的专业是database / data
mining （做model）。我在考虑patent lawyer的career。
我没有任何法律背景。看了网上的说明，大概有LLM或者JD 。LLM需要有法学的
Bachelor学位和工作经验。我想知
道可否有以下计划：
＃1 考LSAT，通过JD program,再考bar。
#2 先在本校读一个法学的Bachelor学位，再申请一个patent agent的工作，两年
后通过LLM program,再考bar。
方案2大概可以给我省钱，因为我可以免费在本校读一个法学的Bachelor或者JD学位，
而且能让我有机会早一些接触实
际工作。但是我的学校没有什么名气。
请教各位哪种方案比较可行。先多谢了。

there's no bachelor degree in law in the U.S. the first law degree is J.D.,
which require applicants have previously obtained a bachelor degree. LLM
is a graduate degree for those who finished J.D. and wanted to specialize in
certain areas or want to go to academia. Very few american J.D. keep on
pursuing LLM because it does not boost employability much, but LLM is a
valuable shortcut for foreign trained lawyers. In China and many other
countries there's bachelor in law (called LLB) degree tha

Hi:
Thanks for your kind help!:) I checked with human resource department, I
can have tuition free for JD program. I was wondering if it is Ok to find a
job in the market even if my university is only a teaching school with no
much fame. If chances are very slim to find a patent lawyer position with JD
degree and I pass the bar exam, I will have to save my money for a good law
school.

呵呵。我现在工作的学校对我蛮好的。我也很喜欢这里的人情。我因为个人理想，还是
想往工业界靠。其实我的专业是做database/data minig，比较可能转 finance quant
。只是我觉得finance quant现在竞争非常激烈，而且我又希望能够跳出纯技术的圈子
。现在想到的是 MBA in finance或者finance lawyer的道路，最终希望能去做venture
。因为我没有法律的背景，考虑还是先从patent lawyer起步，将来有了工作经验再转
finance lawyer。而且做patent lawyer有助于我了解业内的技术动向。当然现在只是
初步的模糊想法。如果你比较了解法律这一行，我很诚恳的希望能够请教你。

首先有理想是好事。
不过你的想法的确是“初步的模糊想法。”首先，finance lawyer怎么说也不是在“往
工业界靠，”离你现在的路更是很远。其次，为了做venture，而去做finance lawyer
，为了做finance lawyer而去做patent lawyer，可操作性要推敲一下，而且patent
lawyer也不是那么容易，可以拿来做三级跳跳板的那种。
而且，“做patent lawyer有助于我了解业内的技术动向，”可那对finance lawyer有
什么帮助呢？
最后，即使最终这条路真得走通了，你付出的心血应该远远比去直面finance quant的
“激烈竞争”来得多很多。
