生物，Ph.D.在即，没有专利方面的任何经验。申请材料（cover letter, resume,
writing sample)都仔细改过，忙乎了好几个月找technical advisor的位子，但一直没
有好消息。
LD说我申请上可能有点问题，虽然经济不好，但也不至于这样。说不要怕吹牛，至少争
取一个面试机会再说。我现在比较郁闷，真的不知道哪个环节出了问题. 身边的朋友多
是理工背景的，可问的人不多。真心请教这里的id,能否给一些建议，以我们这种背景
，准备申请材料究竟要注意些什么,law firm究竟希望怎样的candidate. 多谢。

You have a law school admission letter or at least a LSAT score. That helps
a lot.
Be yourself, I guess that is the most important thing I learned.

多谢。我原来是打算工作落实以后，就开始准备lsat(考试材料都收集了一些了）,现在
却发现入门都比较难，sigh.
我其实一直也觉得应该是be myself,至少我写cover letter时候觉得自己还是很诚恳实
在的。我家ld说如果大家都吹牛，有1说5，而你不说，那就是你吃亏。我现在比较茫然
，究竟要怎么吹牛？我的cover letter 里也覆盖了很多方面，communication skill,
writing skill，language skill...我已经在不太夸张肉麻地前提下，把自己说得很好
了。。。

there are simply too many fresh bio doctors looking for these positions.
and it's really hard to single one out - the resumes all look similar.
besides there aren't too many positions for bio/chemistry to start with.
our firm hired two EE Ph.D's recently, both with substantial industrial
experience in top companies, and both came through internal referal.
I'd say keep trying, but don't count on it. check out other alternatives as
well.

also, I find it confusing that most sci./eng. people think they MUST go
through the technical specialist stage before they go for law school. The
only advantage is you MAY save some tuition. Not every law firm is willing
to pay for that though. Among all the IP attorneys, people who have gone
through this route are the exception.

does this mean it's easier/better for your career to go to a law school
directly after phd?

i had actually thought about applying law school first,but i just feel being
a tech advisor fits my time frame better at this moment...

为什么这个对找工作有帮助？
你上学其实对firm没什么好处
