The Optimistic Child

真是一本好书！看了一遍，摘抄了许多。估计还会看第二遍。书里的观点很吸引人，作
者强调要accurate optimism，不是妄自菲薄，也不是盲目乐观，狂妄自大地感觉良好。
书里也抨击了现在美国教育里强调self-esteem中feeling good（而不是doing well)的
做法，美国儿童从小被夸得像朵花，自信心极度膨胀，但作者指出，"they have never
been more depressed".
孩子的世界观受父母影响很大，所以父母要做榜样，不断往好的方面改变，以此影响孩
子。特别对我这种不自信的悲观主义者很有用，让我反思自己的成长经历，对和孩子相
处更加自信。
书里有很多例子，和how to talk so kids will listen listen so kids will talk类
似，但觉得这本书更深刻，是从根本上改变父母和孩子的人生态度和亲自关系，而且这
本书是基于作者几十年的大量数据和科研成果，很可信。
总之觉得收益匪浅，应该大力推荐。

Nice!
Just my two cents, the public education system sucks in another perspect.
The teachers give out "terrific" "good job" too easily.
They are not raising confidence. They are brewing complacency.
Lacking the effort to self-improve, these kids would one day realize how
common and average they are when they grow up. The day, they realize this
fact, they will become depressed and frustrated unless they forever live in
their own illusion that they are superior.
Some of them just deny the fact that they need to work harder to make a
living instead of living on welfare.
I helped several non-profit organizations on several occasions. I noticed a
portion of the receivers took the gifts for granted. Their though? Their
situation is not their fault. The society owe them everything. They feel so
good about themselves that they refuse to have a second look at themselves.
Thanks partly to DEM for making this happen.
