Several research and teaching assistantships (with full tuition waiver),
starting Fall 2016 or Spring 2017, are available in the School of Electrical
Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) for self-motivated students
committed to pursuing a PhD in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Engineering
(CE) in the general area of software engineering and programming languages,
with focus on the quality, reliability, security of software systems.
Expected research topics will center on (1) testing, debugging, and
optimizations of object-oriented programs and systems, including
distributed systems and big-data computing platforms, and (2) security and
privacy defense of mobile applications, such as Android apps. Major
approaches will be static and dynamic program analysis, information flow
tracking, path profiling, runtime monitoring, as well as data analytics and
empirical studies.
Students with a BS in CS/CE or closely related subjects and passionate in
researching any of the topics are welcome and encouraged to apply. Key
qualifications include strong logical reasoning skills, solid understanding
of computer algorithms, and proficiency in (Java/C/C++) programming and
system development. A MS in CS/CE, a strong background in compiler
construction and related tools, and/or experiences in designing/implementing
large software systems would be desirable yet not required.
If interested, please contact Dr. Tsai ([email protected]/* */) with your CV/
resume. For application procedure, please refer tohttp://school.eecs.wsu.edu/graduate/admissions/ and https://gradschool.wsu.edu/apply/.
Washington State University is a public research university based in Pullman
, Washington. The School of EECS has seen dramatic growth with its faculty
and student body steadily increased in size and quality during the past few
years and continuing to expand. The overall engineering graduate program is
ranked 80th nationally and the CS graduate program is ranked 70th among all
computer science departments in the U.S. More about the university and its
EECS programs can be learned from online at http://www.wsu.edu.
