PInvoke stored as .NET Attributes (MSIL Metadata, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metadata_(CLI) ) These attributes tell JIT how to generate the glue code. This aspect of code -generating metadata cannot be easily encoded by bytecodes alone.
