About my performance. I've just joined this company for 4 months. By now, have finished four projects, including building out a new site for the company. I am doing network security work. This is tough place. Everybody in the team, including the Manager, fighted between each other. Team leader complained the manager to HR..... Could someone advise what I should do now? Sign the paperwork or not? Go to HR to explain furhter? Thanks a lot

I think LZ's point is that some features are not for doing better work, but for doing rule-violating bad work. In the early days there were indeed some language features meant for high flexibility, when being flexible was considered equivalent to being powerful . Some such features include self-modifying code, operator redefining. These turned out to be disasters for debugging. I suppose the new languages have already learned the lessons and should try to maintain a good balance between flexibility and usability.
Four things: 1. Not reliable. Complain me didn't delay to join the phone conferece for half an hour this sunday early morning at 12:30am. 2. Did't corporate with a sub-manager the manager assinged to manager me, an india son of bitch. 3 Multitasking. I joined this company 4 months ago. and have finished 4 projects by now. Still can't let him satisfied. 4. Didn't maintain good relationship with networking group. When I was working on building the new site for the company, the networking group delayed to deliver the networking connectivity for 4 weeks. I pushed them to deliver. and they are not happy. My manager asked me to finish the project in 2 weeks, that is supposed to be finished in one and half month. And this happened after I joined the company for one month.

I beg to disagree. library and frameworks are not a given, features attractive to library developers are thus more meaningful than you think.

HR will only indicate voluntarily termination (resignation) or involuntarily (layoff or fire), and will not give any further specifics during a background check, to avoid possible lawsuit. So you should be fine.

Only partly true. Just compare code written for OpenCV 1.x (before C++ generics for matrix types) and OpenCV 2.x Lack of generics and destructor means much more time spent on explicit data conversion, copying, allocation, release, etc. I'm sure any code written to use OpenCV 1.x had more programmer bugs than code written to use OpenCV 2.x

I feel for you. Agreed that they're in the process to get rid of you. While looking for new jobs, i would fight back: collect all the evidences of unfairness, discrimination, etc, and raise it back to HR. One or two counter examples should be sufficient for your argument. Don't sign the warning.

Thank you so much for everyone's advice and suggestion. I highly appreciate. I also talked to my friend, who is a senior engineer and owns his own consultant business. Also talked to my chinese colleague in this company. They suggest me not to dispute with HR because that is useless and make the situation worse. Now at least I can have about 2-3 months to find another job. But if dispute, maybe they can find fault with me and fire me (instead of lay off) immediately. Would you advise me if I should sign the letter? Or I should dispute to HR. BTW, my manager is senior here. He has deputy IT Head supporting him. Thanks a lot

Thank you so much for advices. This letter is from my manager, who assigned the Indian guy to manage me. Before this issue, there is no any oral warning. I didn't get any half-year evaluation. I entered this company in July 2010. Signing this letter means I agreed and understood what the letter said. After I entered this company, I found out that my manager is very tough and the whole group messed up. Higher IT administration never thinks this group works. Before I came in, one guy just left and one guy changed to another group. My manager entered this group about one and half years ago after the previous manager of this group got fired due to mess-up things in this group . But my manager always yelled to everyone in this group. So about two months ago, two senior guys (this group only has three members, two senior guys and me) along with other group guys complained my manager to HR about his altitude to his colleagues. Sincerely I do have fault. 1. I delayed to log into the conference call scheduled at midnight hour for half an hour. 2. Didn't follow up with the indian properly. But in the complaint letter, at least two items listed are not true. After the official meeting with my manager and the indian, I talked to my manager one-to-one. He said this letter is not a procedure to kick out you, but just wanted you to perform better. Whether or not you got kicked out depends on him. If I improved my performance, he would keep me. He said that very nicely. But I am not sure if this is his trick to convince me to sign the letter and not to complain to HR. So now I am not sure if I should talk to HR or just simply sign it.

Seems that you should tell those two untrue items to HR (cc your supervisor) . Maybe your supervisor, not you, will be fired, since all his/her group members are complaining about him. Just do not sign anything untrue. Start looking for new jobs at the same time! Clearly it's not a good place to stay .

Do NOT sign the paperwork. You should defend yourself with supporting evidence instead. No matter what happens, do NOT sign the complaint paperwork that your boss initially submitted.
