Big trend:
1.IoT
2. SAAS to replace enterprise software
3. big data infrastructure, in memory DB, machine learning platform etc.
4. Big data/machine learning empowered vertical applications: intelligent
CRM, churn reduction, etc.
5. Anonymous social
6. O2O, copy Uber, AirBnb to more verticals. The hottest is to disrupt
restaurants and food delivery. tons of new fund raising.
I think social is largely gone.
It's hard to say if the Uber model could win out in other verticals. But
certainly people can get something out of it, such as a better food delivery
experience.
Big data evolution is still at its early stage and might take 2-3 years to
get its full strength.
SAAS is a safe bet, the same as how software had taken over verticals one by
one 20 years ago. It's time for SAAS to replace software now.
IoT is super hot. No matter you are working on hardware, middleware, the
backend, analytics, tons of money are rushing in. IoT requires a whole new
stack(not necessarily technology wise, but vendor wise). All the VCs are
looking at this.
