The Department invites applications for a Research Assistant Professorship.
Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in physics; and (ii) research
experience in theories of quantum physics. Those with the following
background are preferred:
- Quantum coherence of nano-systems, cold atoms, and/or optical systems;
- Quantum metrology and spin resonance spectroscopy;
- Theories and numerical simulations of quantum many-body systems;
- Quantum optics and nonlinear optics of condensed matter systems.
The appointee will work closely with faculty members in the Department to
enhance the existing strength in quantum coherence research. Further
information about relevant research in the Department is available at http://www.phy.cuhk.edu.hk. The appointee will be expected to demonstrate a strong record of research accomplishments, potential for establishing significant externally funded research programmes, and undertake light teaching duties at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to three years
commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to mutual agreement.

Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and
experience. The University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package,
including medical care, plus a contract-end gratuity for an appointment of
two years or longer and housing benefits for eligible appointees.
