首先的感觉就是:
真是太难用了!
虽然出来的文章好看,但是,太多太复杂的设定,不是WYSIWG,太多的东西需要手动设定.
如果只是用来写一些文字和公式多些的东西,用Latex可能还是一个比较好的选择.
但是,如果要放很多图,subfigure, subtable之类的,就太烦了.
昨天试了一个晚上,最终还是不行.
唉,还是回到word好了.等以后Latex的界面更fridendly了,再尝试吧.

Don't use lyx,sw or any wysiwyg software for latex. You would learn nothing if
you did so.

你最开始不要搞这么花吧?先把内容写好,然后再搞格式好了.

图是比较折腾人。表就太恐怖了，hoho :S

Paper的内容已经基本完成，想决定到底是用word还是全部都换到latex下。

How to put 2 figures side by side but share one caption?
I cannot figure it out within SW.

You made a good decision. Use word instead of latex. Latex is not for newbies
who don't want/have-time to learn. :)

I started to use Latex from using other's template. For example,
submitting a paper to IEEE conference have to follow IEEE format.
Luckily, I just download the IEEE paper template and fill it with
my contents. I looked up help files (Not So Short guide to latex, stc)
when necessary.
Using word is easy, but when changing to another format, you have to
deal with how to make it follow the new format, avoiding the figures
flying around. In Latex, you only need to change a line if they provide
new fo

Time is my problem. I want to publish the paper as soon as I could.

I actually do it in WORD first to put subcaptions. Then output to eps. Then
insert it as one figure and include the main caption in Latex. Kind of stupid
but works. hehe...

有好多生成LaTeX表格的工具。我自己用过的就有：
OOo
gnumeric
csv2latex
table.el
R (Hmisc package)
.....
你没设计过比较复杂的表格吧？那些中间拐来拐去不大规则的那种。
就算你吐血写出来了，过两月回头要修改的时候你就知道有多痛苦了。

我也手写，html、java我都手写，心里感觉比较踏实。

You have to practice before you reach certain level of productivity.
I am using homework to practice so that I will be able to do it quickly in
case
of paper deadline.

哪有人手写LaTeX的表的，都是先在别的界面友好一点的程序里写好，
然后用工具生成的吧。
我现在用一个emacs的package，叫做table.el，很小很简单但也足够用了。

也很容易可以在lyx中插两幅图并列, 只要按上面网址给的方法, 中间加个TeX code "\hskip 1cm"就可以了.
