The slim maples shook their leaves the moment she departed;
An eerie wind brought unnatural chill to that very hot day.
All were quiet, she was gone, I knew not to where.
Broken like the string that used to hold a kite flying,
I turned aquarious and sweated water like the plants did.
She shouldn't have worried about lack of mourners,
but there was no solace in crying.
In longing my gaze bore into the Earth, yielding
visions of dark night and sulfurous lakes
that burnt like the volcano
