here is my 2 cents:
1. If you have several projects going on at the same time, you can always (
maybe not) find a way to mix them up to fit your schedule.
2. If 1 does not work out for you, you may have face following situations:
(1) write down whatever time you use for the project when you fill up the
timesheet. If project manager talks to you about over-budget, just tell him
the proposed time is less than actural efforts. You can have a chance to
communicate with him and let him understand you
