i know a american guy who worked for big 4 for so many years, in year 2003,
he became a cfo for a small company(300+ employee), his salary: $80,000.
Come on, who is making $100,000 today as an accountant, or in big 4?
everybody is picturing a fake promising future here. BTW, I am not an
accountant.

Haha, this is too far.
OK, I am taking Jenny's side. My friend, started with me, Jan. 2005 in audit
and switched to KPMG in April this year. (so this gives her what? 2.5 years
experience) is now making 82k a year and she just got, I believe at least
10% raise + bonus.
Talking about controller, not CFO, makes 120k for a median size company in
Indiana. I know this because I audit their payroll and 401k plan. That is
just the base, not including bonus.

This is really out of hand at this stage. Everybody calm down please. The
situation here is not totally black and white.
The information here is just to provide an idea about the salary range. If
you do not believe it, you can check from the website, like salary.com etc..
You will have a pretty good idea about the salary. Further more, you do not
have to believe what other people said here, you can apply one to test
water by yourself.
The most updated information I got is from the recruiter who
