I have nearly three years of statistician experience with 3 exams, but never
really worked in the insurance field.
I wonder if I should try some positions more senior than the entry-level
ones. My biggest problem is the need of sponsorship.

Your three years in stat. weights more in the P&C world...

can you explain why?
Statisticians do survival analysis, Kaplan-Meier curve, cox regression
models, etc., which is related to Life side.

Life side doesn't use much SAS or MiniTab which are used widely in P&C firms
. Also, as a statistician you should have a deeper understanding on
mathematical probability, loss model, etc...

I also feel that these things you mentioned are more related to P&C side.

i agree. Never have to deal with these working in a life company.

I personally feel that your 3 yrs as statistician will be treated as half
year actiarial related experience on PC side. Actuary is not statistician.
Very very little complicate stat involved unless in some special srae like
predictive modeling.

I guess it depends on what kind of position you are applying for. You might
want to consider some reseach related positions instead of pricing analysts
positions.
