My parents want to come to U.S to visit my family. But when I am preparing
materials for them, I just found that I lost their extension approval
notice issued by USCIS about three years ago for staying extension. Is it a
serious problem for visa application? Any suggestion will appreciated.

Could be. Different accounting principles, culture, etc. But you can always
jump to universities, or non-profit organizations.

I heard from my manager that she always trash those resumes from government
sectors.Sorry to say that.

By the same token, private industry accounting expereince is pretty much
worthless when applying for government sector jobs.
It's not a matter of better or worse; irrelevant experience will always be
discounted, if not completely discredited. That's why you always think twice
when jumping sectors - are you willing to pay the price to start over.

it really depends...
if you work at FDIC before, then banking industry likes you
if you work at IRS, tax firm likes you
but IT industry may not think you are relevant
