The Computer Science Department has well established Ph.D. and M.S. programs

Job Description:
The Department of Computer Science (CS) in the Thomas J. Watson School of
Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton University (The State
University of New York at Binghamton) invites applications for six tenure-
track Assistant Professor Positions beginning in Fall 2015. Qualified
applications are invited from candidates with specializations in any of
these four areas: (1) portable device/system design and energy-aware systems
design (two positions), (2) healthcare information systems, data analytics
for healthcare (two positions), (3) cybersecurity (one position) and, (4)
computer networks (one position), could also be at the Associate Level).
Strong evidence of research capabilities and commitment to teaching are
essential. Junior tenure track faculty members have a significantly reduced
teaching load for at least the first three years.
1. The candidates sought for two faculty positions in the portable
device/system design and energy-aware systems can have expertise in any or a
combination of the hardware, software and systems areas. These two
positions are affiliated with the University’s Smart Energy
Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence (TAE). The successful candidate(s)
will contribute to the development of this TAE as an area of research and
teaching. The search committee will include members of the Smart Energy TAE
steering committee as well as from the Computer Science Department.

2. The two positions in healthcare should have expertise in information
systems technologies for the healthcare area, extending from software design
for portable health monitoring devices, monitoring and diagnostic systems
to data analytics and design of systems for healthcare management and
delivery. These two positions are affiliated with the University’s Health
Sciences Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence (TAE). The successful
candidate(s) will contribute to the development of this TAE as an area of
research and teaching. The search committee will include members of the
Health Sciences steering committee as well as from the Computer Science
Department.

3. The faculty position in the cybersecurity area is part of a campus
initiative to grow our presence in the information security area and will
support a new program leading to a Master’s degree with specialization in
Information Security. This position will also strengthen the Department’s
presence in the cybersecurity area and will address the projected and
growing National need for technical specialists at all levels in the
cybersecurity area.
4. The position in networks area is intended to align with the
Department's focus in the systems area. We are particularly interested in
candidates specializing in software-defined networking or in experimental
aspects of networking, including wireless and sensor networks. (The
candidate for this position will be hired at either the Assistant or
Associate level, depending on the candidate’s qualifications).

Requirements:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related
discipline by the appointment date.
