Sorry only could type in English here. Let me try to share my experience with you. I've tried to initiate two collaborative projects with other two labs, and so far so good, the projects are still going. First of all, we are using the grant money of which your PI is the PI, not us. So you need to convince your boss that it is absolutely required for such collaboration, focus on how it fits in the big picture; how it would benefit the lab and lead to a publication unit. if your PI is against this, do not proceed. Second, talk with the other PI(s) informally and try to inquire him/her for such a collaboration; Third, after all these, I initiated a meeting with all the PIs, sat down with them, and went over the details for this collaboration, especially the timeline and the author list of potential publication unit(s). This is tricky, you need to make sure your project is proceeding as smoothly as possible, otherwise, your PI will say you are not focusing enough.
Many thanks for the input -- it sets an example for me how to proceed. You are right, I should not appear to pursue what interests me only, but should convince that it is for the big picture of the lab/his grant..
