Your calculation did not consider one hidden factor -- most likely SCI citation collection is delayed. So far it may collect citations just between Jan to June. If this is the case, it is only half-year citations. To compare, you could calculate the IF of PNAS based on the current data. After that you can make your conclusion more solid.

good point, pnas 是 6.790 (截止到现在),nc 是 6.580 (参考上贴数据)。pnas 这2年if在9.70左右,按照目前这个比率,明年nc可能9.50左右徘徊。
很多做plant epigenetics,microbiolog等等这方面的研究。有些研究的确是好研究, 但如果投Nature,肯定没戏。 又没有本专业的Nature子刊定位,Nature Genetics 勉强算一个,但定位也不是很合适,而且难度大。 如果投Gene & Dev或者Mol Cell等等又不太合适,往往直接被拒,起码是被刁难。而投 PLOS bio,Genome res不能体现本专业特点,往往还是没戏。 这样的研究以前的话一般可以琢磨琢磨投个PNAS。如果是好一些的或者可以去和各种其 他专业的子刊打擦边球,然后一定程度上要看运气因素。而现在多了个选择投个NC. 正如同NC的GUIDE TO AUTHORS上写的: “Nature Communications encourages submissions in fields that aren't represented by a dedicated Nature research journal; for example developmental biology, plant sciences, microbiology, ecology and evolution, palaeontology and astronomy.” 即,如果有些专业没有专门的Nature子刊,但如果他们的研究的确达到了子刊水平,那 么就投NC。
