Biomedical engineering?
There r alot of things with biomedical, but none really stands out.
Bachelors degree with major in biomedical science can go on to be a lab tech
. Tech isnt that bad. I used to be a tech with a bio undergrad, salary
started at 30 and slowly bumped to 52 in 4 years. Published 7-8 first author
papers in some easy journals with IF around 4-5 and promoted to lab manager
. Salary is 68k which isnt too bad considering i dont have to do much
besides ordering and occasionally interview new post doc candidates for my
pi.
Biomedical or bioengineering sux. People want electric engineer for the
software part and mech engineer for the hardwares. With a bioengineering
degree, u learn a shit ton of stuff but end up with knowing nothing in depth
. Kind of like a joke, really.
Or go to pharm school, nursing, vet etc. Which is better if ur kid likes
school and such.

这个和医生一点关系都没有。就是生物专业的另外一种叫法而已。
如果是美国本科，必须读完这个之后立刻去考医学院。如果当不了医生，也可以选牙科
，药科什么的。

Yea, seriously, Biology major is useless in the states. It's sort of like a
pathway major, like pre-med, pre-pharm, etc. about 3% of the applicants gets
into some kind of med school each year, if not, you can also try the
Caribbean med school, don't let others bull shit you those grads can't get a
match. it's always been the med school in the states >>> DO > or >= good
Caribbean med school >>>>>>>>>>> med school from China in terms of match
rate.
with only a bio/biomedical degree, the place your kid might end up is in a
research lab.
if med/pharm schools are too hard, try to look for MLS or CLS degrees if
your kid likes the health care environment. if not, career change ASAP after
med school rejection.

BME就业比生物还窄，多是生物公司里的仪器公司，，好在多少有点工程背景，有些人读
完本科多花一年再拿个机械or电子工程学位，就业面就宽很多
若有实力进医学院，读BME倒是不错，进可当医生，退可当engineer。。。不过有没有进
医学院的实力，在高中时候就可看的差不离了吧

完本科多花一年再拿个机械or电子工程学位，就业面就宽很多
若有实力进医学院，读BME倒是不错，进可当医生，退可当engineer。。。不过有没有进

medical lab scientist - not sure, starts at 50k ish and easy to find job
with a green card
clinical lab scientist - with few yrs of experience, salary runs about 40-50
per hr. relatively easy job, a lot easier to find job with citizenship.

old colleague worked a few yr as a lab tech then went to get his
certificate as CLS. Now works part time at 44 usd per hr. full time cls
jobs arent easy to come by tho. In los angeles and he is a citizen.

尽量不要和生物沾边，如果相关，竞争就激烈。 因为成千上万的生物人转行，肯定是
最近的相关的职位优先考虑，而且他们都是能力素质很好，竞争激烈。

最近有个bioinformatics的phd来上班, 问了他下 应为俺也想转电脑。 他和我说,
choose any major named bioxxxx is suicidal in the job market. Hehe 可能夸张
了 不过这家伙挺诚恳。 说是陪老公才来这里上班顺便体验下academia生活, 干1年就
要以computer science ms找工作去了, 说是phd的钱当喂狗了 还好研究生文凭不坑。
