Position Description
•This position is responsible for providing petrophysical support for
maximizing economic recovery from producing properties and development of
new properties.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
•Completes petrophysical assignments of a broad scope and moderate
difficulty.
•Coordinates well logging operations, special core analysis, and
residual oil saturation studies.
•Participates in defining petrophysical approaches and in planning and
scheduling work
•Performs technical assignments which represent a significant portion
of a larger project
•Schedules and coordinates major segments of projects
•Reviews design and documentation to ensure compliance
•Conducts feasibility studies, determines manpower, cost estimates,
and develops criteria
•Significantly contributes to meeting business objectives by
generating and implementing project ideas
Leading formation evaluation tasks including LWD, traditional & special
logging, coring, fluid sampling snd integrated interpretation of results
* Working closely with others to implement both traditional and novel
technologies
* Interpreting open-hole, cased-hole, and production log analysis to get
quantitative rock (including mechanical) properties
* Integrating log, core, PTA, PVT/MDT, and seismic to develop rock-fluid
models that characterize the reservoir
* Developing technology and applying new technical concepts
* Communicating tachnical analysis effectively to management and technical
professionals.
Position Requirements
Education:
•Bachelor degree in engineering/geosciences.
•Masters degree in geosciences.
Experience / specific knowledge:
•6 to10 years experience in the oil and gas industry mainly focused in
the area of petrophysical well log evaluation.
Certifications, licenses, registrations:
Association with professional societies such as the SPE or AAPG are
preferred but not required.
Competencies, skills, and abilities:
•Skilled in the art of well log interpretation as it applies to
carbonates, sand stones, open hole and cased hole environments
•Knowledgeable about essential logging techniques associated with EOR
processes, especially CO2 and surfactant flooding.
•Sufficient knowledge of petrophysical concepts so as to easily apply
their knowledge to a broad range of industry standard software packages.
•Strong organizational and coordination skills, including
documentation, report writing, and data archiving.
•Strong planning skills with an un supervised ability to meet
deadlines
•Ability to work well in a team environment and multi-task as required
•Ability to prioritize work deliverables and help in the
prioritization process.
•Standard knowledge and use of Microsoft productivity suite (EXCEL,
WORK, POWERPOINT).
•Ability to communicate at a level commensurate with the audience when
dealing with technology topics
Physical demands:
•Predominantly office environment, some travel to field operations.
Working conditions:
•Primarily office
•Working after hours, nights, weekends, holidays as needed.
Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and
abilities:
Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this
position:
•Professional license.
