I recently always found a "IP address conflict" hint of my computer.
Whether this means someone else want to break into my computer system?
I share the internet connection with several renters and the owner family in
a big family house.
The internet connection hub is in the owner's room.
I use windows XP SP3 system and use the firewell of the windows XP system, I
don't have an anti-virus softwave.
Is there any free or very cheap anti-virus softwave can pretect my computer
system from break-in?

Urumqi univ is hiring here (NO OFFENSE). But I guess Chengdu school of Economics could be Sichuan Univ-- Jinjiang school, or SWUFE.

其实如果要回国，不要只盯住JOE登广告和在AEA做招待会的那几个。凡是觉得想去的学
校就主动去联系一下，成本也很低，最好办法是直接给院长或系主任，较次的办法是给
师资办发送Email，最多邮寄份材料，将自己简历、发表或代表性文章一起邮寄过去。
反正联系一下也没花什么成本，何不多联系几家？到时候都有offer了再比较一下去哪
家。
很多学校在job market比较低调，不发广告不宣传，但实际上也在招海归，给的待遇也
不差。我三年前准备回国时候，就是一股脑把几大名牌高校都申请过去，基本上都回信
了，大部分欢迎来面试，还有提供来回机票让回去面试的。回国走了一趟，最后拿到4
个offer（2个打广告，2个没打广告），发现没打广告的学校给的条件跟登广告的相差
并不大。其实我比较下来，国内只要是商学院/管理学院，对海归博士实际提供的待遇
条件都够至少小康，再要是几大热门名牌之一的，海归博士的实际待遇（基本年薪超工
作量后的报酬，基本年薪adjusted for teaching load and research task）基本在一
个档次，差距不会超过半个档次。
当然凡是名牌高校即使不登JOE

大家有清华经管、北大光华和上海交大的消息吗？
大家寄到香港那些大学的推荐信有问题吗？有好几个学校的HR最近写邮件要推荐信，可
是系里的秘书告诉我她很早就已经都寄了啊。根据wiki，好些学校已经发了面试的邀请
，不知道这种情况下还会有多少机会再拿到面试呢？
版主是否考虑成立一个job market的专门讨论区/贴？找工作的同学好互通信息，好心
的过来人可以多提供建议啊。

淡定阿。认识几个从HK和大陆TOP SCHOOLS来面试的，据说今年期望值都很高。趁火打
劫没人性阿。下次REVIEW他们的文章时一定要REJECT，让他们也尝尝被据是什么滋味。
没拿到面试没什么，不要把心态破坏了。认真对待自己已经拿到的INTERVIEWS。争取做
到稳准狠，到手的鸭子一定要把它煮熟了。我一朋友现在TOP 10 当AP，他的SECOND
BEST OFFER是100名外的了。真佩服他当时的心态，到TOP 10去面试一点不怯场。
再说了，OFFER又不是女朋友，一个就成了。女朋友当然多多益善。

有人推测，今年各个学校趁火打劫的后果是，tier 1的学生有非常多的面试，tier 2和

有。另外，有一些精壮的tier1棒子也在侵占香港新加坡和中国大陆的job market，来
势甚为凶猛。

其实招聘方的博弈有点类似auction里面bidding strategy的问题，也许不存在pure
strategy的解，而是采取mixed strategy。在今年这个坏年头，大家都知道应该提高面
试job star的概率，但是应该提高多少估计谁也不是很有把握。

国内的工作也难拿，我知道的情况是南朝鲜、越南、印度的一些tier 1学校的毕业生
今年都在往香港、新加坡、内地（上海北京，甚至WISE）投简历和paper。

据我问在市场上的人，就算你申请10＋的国内学校，也不是每个都会给你面试的，有些
人拿到的基本是最好的4、5个学校，差一些的学校反而不给面试。他们猜测国内的学校
也在sorting。

as for SAIF at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, any one has any good idea
about this relatively new institute? It seems its senior faculty members are
all well-known tenure-tracked professors in top US universities, but how
about junior faculty? Do you hire for the first time? Do they have PhD
program? Too little information online...

这些学校都很奇怪，这么晚才发invitation，而且只做周六周日。我有同学今天一下子
都收到了，但是周六周日哪里还有时间跟他们interview。我幸好没申，不然也要伤神
。

Suppose you had bad expectation about the market one month ago and applied
aggressively to many positions, since the marginal cost of applying to those

early and you have arranged interviews with them. When you have nothing at

I don't know, but people kept asking the same question in econjobrumors
forum, and demand side always advised to cancel as early as possible if you
definitely will not go there. Good for three sides: demand, supply and
waiting list people, that's what the said, and also said it is pretty normal
and demand sides totally understand it. They can tell from interview if you
are overqualified or not interested in them.
