VLSI is hot, that's ture. but the application of VLSI is for DSP and
communication. You learn VLSI and have the project or background on DSP or
communication, that will make you strong in searching a job.
If it's possible, there is a major between VLSI and DSP, say, VLSI Architecture
for DSP or communication. I think that's a good choice for you to keep them
both on your schedule. You could talke to your VLSI boss to get a VLSI architecture
for DSP or microprocessor, that will be great for you.
