Security is a hot topic in IT, nobody denies that. But...
It seems that it's total revenue size is quite limited because...
Market analysists and security consultants always say in this way:
"the total IT loss each year is xx billion dollars". However, they
don't say only a samll portion of this xx billon dollars can be transftered
to Security service/product revenue.

you don't have to give it up ah. it's so much knitted together with networking
,
that i think the networking guys plays a bigger role in it than the apps guys.
similiarily, when voice turns voip, the networking people can be the major
player vs the tranditional telecom people. it really depends who learns the
other halve quicker and better.

Even with all these, that's 30% of the whole security management process.
A general view of information system security management process is in
ISO 17799 which has 11 areas. Communication and operations management,
access control and information system acuisition/development/maintenance
are three areas.
