Because there is a chance they can turn around.
Borrowing new money to pay off old debt will delay the time the
debts are due. If the time frame is long enough and the market
eventually goes up, they will turn around. All they need to do
is to bury the evidence carefully until the day they die.

Stanford说15年回报11.5%到16.5%，特别是11.5%，貌似也并非太疯狂，恰好又赶上好
时段，而且包括他们自己都没有预料到次贷这么猛

有两类ponzi scheme, 一种是开始就想骗的，另一种是开始想赚钱，但事与愿违，于是
为了名誉金钱先做假帐先糊弄过去，希望市场好转。
据说Madoff算第二类，先前的名声太高了，不好意思和人家说赔了。
这个stanford不知道算哪类。
