As the Director of Mobile Marketing at Groupon, you’ll be responsible for
the success of Groupon’s mobile advertising globally. You’ll lead a team
of mobile marketing managers, technical analysts, and mobile engineers to
set and achieve mobile goals. Over 50% of Groupon’s North American business
is now conducted on mobile devices, and Groupon is looking for a senior
leader to market our mobile app and drive strong transactional ROI across
mobile devices. You’ll be responsible for understanding, measuring,
optimizing, reporting, and improving the fundamental success factors that
drive our global mobile marketing business. You’ll build a team to optimize
creative, conversions, and inventory sources, and be responsible for
improving key performance measures. You’ll work with both regional business
owners and our global engineering team to develop real-time marketing
analysis tools, plan and execute A/B tests, validate test results, report
findings to the senior team, and optimize performance of all mobile
campaigns and organic mobile marketing initiatives. You will also partner
with business stakeholders, engineers, data scientists and product to create
new mobile marketing strategies, product features, and user experiences
that make Groupon’s mobile advertising engaging for both merchants and
consumers.
The right candidate will possess a proven track record of leadership,
product ownership, analytical prowess, technical aptitude, and business
savvy. Responsibilities include:
Ensuring that our global mobile app is constantly improving overall user
experience, driving more ROI for the company, and achieving global mobile
business goals
Building a global team to effectively manage mobile optimization and
operational support, including creative design, optimization (creatives,
landing pages & inventory sources), data mining & performance analysis,
reporting, touch site intercepts, billing, etc.
Writing the global playbook for measuring, monitoring, and improving global
mobile marketing KPIs across each driver of mobile performance, including
inventory source, price, audience, creative, offer, targeting, landing page,
conversion, optimization techniques, and operational best practices
Driving incremental improvement of the mobile marketing platform through
rigorous A/B testing and building scalable, repeatable best practices for
optimization
Working closely with the mobile marketing and mobile app engineering teams
to guide product decisions and manage global rollouts of new features
Instituting checks and balances with regional mobile marketing managers; you
look after the global view of performance horizontally across key
categories while the local owners manage performance end-to-end vertically
in their specific region.
This position requires a minimum of:
BS in Computer Science or related Engineering discipline
Successful track record of building and leading business or product teams to
achieve company goals
5+ years direct experience running mobile marketing operations and/or
developing mobile products
A robust personal network of mobile technology and mobile inventory partner
relationships
Experience managing successful teams, hiring, performance management, etc.
Proven experience with large-scale data analysis, data-mining, business
intelligence systems, and other advanced business reporting tools, including
SQL, Tableau, Teradata, R, or similar tools
Keen aptitude for improving campaign performance using solid test & control
fundamentals, data analysis, and identifying key business opportunities in
the data.
Deep experience with paid mobile marketing and organic mobile marketing
technologies including mobile ad servers, mobile exchanges, RTB bidders,
DSPs, SSPs, DMPs, with a sound understanding of the overall online
advertising ecosystem
Proven success applying rigorous, financially-rooted decision-making
practices to guide product development and business efforts to achieve
success
Strong leadership, project management, communication and collaboration
skills with a proven ability to work with both technical and business teams
MBA preferred
