原因（1）警车灯闪未停，追了很长时间，警察说超过约20 迈，被控 CLASS 6 FELONY
(2) 超速〉80迈，被控 CLASS 1 MISDEMEANOR
朋友解释警车闪灯信号很不明显，加上车内音乐声音太大，他听不见警车鸣笛，他根本不
知道后面有警车追他。朋友以前记录良好，开车时间不到一年。这种事学校会帮忙吗？是
否被开除学籍。
请大家出出主意，朋友很痛苦。

Better go get a good lawyer.
A felony charge is very serious. If he is still in F1 status, a conviction of
a felony crime will render him inadmissible to U.S.A, which means he will not
be able to get a green card. But i am not sure if breaking traffic law will be
treated differently.
Tell your friend to talk to both a criminal lawyer and a immigration lawyer
before he enters any guilty plea in court. Don't plead guilty to the judge too
easily. If this is his first offense, a lawyer might be

Twenty miles are a long distance. No jury will accept an excuse. In any event,
Massachusetts--where I live--high court rejected an identical excuse in 1996.
However, the Massachusetts statute makes it an arrrestable offense subject to
a fine of only $100--without jail time--and therefore the lowest form of
misdemeanor, like you smoke in the subway platform. Consequences are obvious
different in YOUR state.

Do NOT plead guilty before consulting both a criminal lawyer
and an immigration lawyer. In my limited experience, once guilty,
you will be deported (after serving jail time, etc) as long as you
are not a US citizen, even if you are a green card holder.
Go to a good criminal lawyer and see if he can strike a deal
with the prosecutor. Don't just accept a public defender for
the sake of saving money. Public defenders are so badly paid
that usually only inexperienced newly graduated law students
