Position Overview
The Senior Systems Engineer (Sales Engineer) understands various complex
networking and security infrastructures being deployed by the largest
enterprise organizations. They are responsible for building relationships
with enterprise customers, strategic technology partners, and resellers to
recommend the most appropriate solution. This position is for a product
specialist that will work with regional teams across North and South America
to drive the security testing business.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide technical expertise through sales presentations that
provide detailed information concerning Ixia solution capabilities,
competitive differentiators, and industry knowledge
• Support technical evaluations of recommended solutions onsite with
the customer in their lab or pre-production facility
• Understand enterprise customer future needs to assist with roadmap
and future product feature requests
• Author test plans for use by customers during product evaluation
• Execute test plans and provide actionable results analysis documents
• Operate with minimal direction from management while also working
daily with account director to ensure proper priority of tasks
• Work with other enterprise SEs to share lessons learned and foster a
team atmosphere
Required Qualifications
• Exceptional customer service skills: written, verbal, and
presentation
• 9+ years’ experience as a pre-sales system engineer or the
equivalent related to telecom, data networking, or security
• Strong background in networking, including a solid understanding of
routing and switching
• Strong background in security, including a strong understanding of
firewall and IPS
• Recent experience in cyber security, including a strong
understanding of attacks and exploits
• Must have knowledge and solid understanding of applications,
including the OSI model as well as common protocols and applications used by
large enterprise organizations
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
Preferred experience
5+ years of experience in networking, security, and pre-sales
engineering
Deep Security knowledge of Exploits, Vulnerabilities, and evasions
Deep knowledge of TCP/IP and HTTP
Possess a solid understanding of network protocols (IP, UDP, TCP, GTP
Application experience with HTTP, SMTP, POP3, IMAP, SIP, SMB/CIFS,
RADIUS, Diameter
Working experience with Routers, Switches, Firewalls, IPS, Load
Balancers, and Proxies
Experience with next generation or Application Firewalls is preferred
Mobility 3G and LTE Evolved Packet Core experience, WiFi, 802.11 a plus
