Scales and Intervals:
Pretty much all western music and even chinese music are based on the half
step, meaning that the smallest interval between two notes is a half step. Why
half step? I am not quite sure, I think it has something to do with how they
used to tune instruments so they all have the same pitch. Therefore, there are
12 notes that Western music uses. They are also called the chromatic tones.
