yes, OPT has the tex benefit and change job flexibility. OPT stem extension is also easy if you qualify. Although H1b transfer is as diffciult as apply for new H1b for the employer, you should also take H1b cap into consideration. This year the H1b cap might be met much sooner than the last two years. I would suggest OPT first, but watch H1b cap closely in case your GC application faces setback.
