Cosmicy, I think you may have gotten yourself too worked up. Give others the
benefit of the doubt...
You may want to read Chua's reactions to this...

no matter what,一般的老美还是会对中国人指手画脚的,他们什么时候愿意花时间去
了解别人了解别的文化啦。有没有这本书区别不大。

我碰到过有白奶奶在我管教孩子的时候站在旁边看,然后说you really should not
have done this blahblah,弄得我很郁闷,当时居然无话可说。后来跟我邻居唠叨,
她说你就应该说it's not your business, stay away,礼貌些就说thank you, bye.

"She points out that while she uses the term "Chinese motherhood" as
shorthand for her neotraditionalist style of parenting, she states early on
that many people of Chinese background don't subscribe to such methods, and
many non-Chinese do. She also asserts that this is meant to be her own
tragicomic story, and not a recipe for others to follow."
if she knows "many people of Chinese background don't subscribe to such
methods", why did she use "Chinese"? to attract eyeballs?
i personally hate to be represented by anyone who claims to be Chinese but
is not.I don't care if his/her grandparent was a descendant of Chinese. by
the way, can Ms. Chua speak Chinese, any kind?

No one likes to be stereotyped even sometimes that is a positive stereotype.
But I think you are being overly critical. The article nor the book is
intended to be examined as a legal document. Relax...she may not have an
intent to represent you....of course I can't speak for her as I can't
represent her...but at least I don't want to be critical of someone that I
am not familiar with.
