Yes, he can. I am 100% sure as my mom-in-law did this with a B2 visa. However, you had better add him/her as your authorized user of one of your credit cards. For my BOA visit, somehow, they request two separate ID. While your passport is one, you need another one, where the AU card will be used. BTW, don't try to argue the visa is another proof outside of the passport. It didn't work. I tried.
