Does anyone know how to turn an idea to a startup company? Specifically,
I have the following question:
To get some partners, when discussing the busniess plan, technology and so
on, how can I protect myself if I do not have any patent right now?

apply for a provisional patent application. It costs you only $80.
Most of the partners are friends, because you have know them for a long time
and you can trust them. You also can find some partners through internet. I
did that before, and all the people I met are trustful and we become good
friends later.

If you think your partners are trustworthy friends and you don't want to get
too businesslike with them, then tell them about your expectations and rely on
their goodwill.
If you are serious about protecting your own ideas and technology, ask
your potential partners to sit down and sign a Confidentiality Agreement
before entering into any substantive discussion about your business plan. The
