THE FALL
The city's fall begins within the heating pipes
Singing of zeezees, dingdings, hoohoos all night long
As accompanions to an individual's insomnia
Stubbornly lingering, longer than the phase
Of falling in or out of love
Park trees are retarded in sensing the season
(Or they might just be too sober)
They don't turn red this late in October
Been drinking the autumn wind for months now
City birds become lyricless
And have forgotten to migrate
The pigeons stay perched at the old hole
