I'm retiring this aspec character for good before I go crazy, seriously.
Pretending to be a maniac to get your creative juices flowing is the worst
possible idea and experience, ever. Fellow wrights please take note and don'
t ever attempt this without supervision.
I never really meant to hurt anyone's feelings and I am very sorry from the
bottom of heart for all those insensitive and ridiculous comments I made.
It started out as an experiment. I had a rough idea about how I wanted this
aspec character to be. His background, his beliefs, his values, the kind of
things he would say, the way he would say them, the message he would try to
get across, everything was thought out at the beginning to make the
character as realistic as possible.
The one thing I never expected was that when aspec interacted with others,
he just sort of took over and the character manifested itself. That's right,
YOU had a role in all of this too, but I'm really the one to blame. Anyhow,
aspec is no more and I am just going conclude whatever it was that he
started on his behalf.

其实谈到华人在美国参政, 本来想讲的也差不多都讲完了. aspec这个角色想说的是,
这一代的新移民普遍对这个没有热情, 对绝少数有政治抱负的人, 也可能因为经济, 家
庭,个人能力等等的理由而无法付诸行动.
美国华人政治梦其实不是那么遥不可及的, 我相信这里很多人都可以去争取做个
school board member来作为起点. 华人政治和社会上的presence以后都要依靠这样一
点一滴积累下来的. 大家还是要主动点, 不要期望什么大牛人突然间走出来当市长州长
. 如果aspec这个角色可以参政, 很多人也可以.
不要再期望什么明君救世者的降临了, 现实不是这样的, 不应该是这样的. 华人往往对
自视太高而不客观, 但又总爱跟别人比. 我印象中aspec从来没有说过他挣多少钱所以
他很牛, 然而很多回应却总往钱里扯来证明他多么失败. 还有很多其他价值观扭曲的反
驳, 在此不多说了, 道理很多人还是懂的. 我觉得就是因为华人价值观不一致, 所有在
华人圈中要出个领袖才这么难. 道理很简单, 一方面是因为缺乏自信, 所以没几个人敢
step up, 另一方面是因为大家对领袖的期望太高而且极度不现实. 人无完人, 而且搞
政治的完人肯定没有好下场. 毕竟制度不一样, 这个误区很多内地来的华人可能要再过
一段时间才能克服. "牛人领袖"只是大家对现状的无奈感反射的安慰, 他/她不存在,
大家不要再幻想了. 民主制度不是用来选出最好的领袖, 而是将选到最差的可能性减到
最少. 现阶段只要有人可以为华人干点事就好了, 就算是再小的事也好. 大家在生活上
也不要再比来比去了, 那是很无聊的事.
最后, 大家要明白, 不管最后被选出来代表我们华人的领袖是哪里来的第一代华人移民
或者是abc, 这个人还是要做出各种妥协才有可能站得住脚. 制度是不容许政策一下子
对华人严重倾斜的, aspec的政岗看起来可能不会受到很多华人支持, 但是big picture
是站得住脚的, 很有可能会得到不少working class老美的选票. 虽然有点夸张, 但我
还是希望用这个极端例子来刺激一下大家的思考, 希望你也能从当中看出些什么道理.
