I am wondering whether it is worth the hassle to switch to another
university that is academically similar to the current institution. Salary
will be probably 30% higher. Teaching load will be slightly higher. There is
no spousal job issue involved, but we do need to sell the house and buy in
the new location. I always thought people would only switch when it is to a
much better university ...
Opinions or suggestions from those who are already tenured Associate or Full
Professors will be highly appreciated!

请教一下大家怎么选择，软软里面的两个组，组做的东西都是telemetry相关，加然后
分析之类的：
一个是big data service(hdinsight)，这个组还做management portal，telemetry的
结果会显示给内部和外部用户。相比来说这个组更大些。好处是能接触比较多东西，ui
，service，api，telemtry，data analysis, machine
learning。product来说hadoop也比较知名，虽然hdinsight的用户可能不多。这个组是
open space，没有office。组里印度人比较多，manager是印度人，不过看起来还nice
；manager感觉工作比较疯狂，一天到晚在线，约的面谈时间不是很晚就是很早（虽然
也算时间可以改）。
另外一个组azure big compute（azure batch），这个组相对较小，基本刚开始做
telemetry，分析结果只是内部用。好处是刚起步。需要自己给product加telemetry，
所以有机会了解product code。组里的人比较balanced，各个国家的人都有。
因为之前没组做过azure的东西，所以两个组对我来说都算新，而且软软内部转组相对
容易，做的东西倒不是最大问题。我的concern是：
1）
这两个product哪个相对更有前途，或者差不多？2）
印度人多的组会有多大问题？

很明显的唯一生路：选烙印少的，然后联合
所有非烙印的老中老美老欧洲去
慢慢跟烙印斗。查老底，搞联盟，
壮大自己的根据地。

There are pros and cons in both.
Current location: rural, but very safe environment; convenient -- no traffic
at all; easygoing.
The other location: a fairly nice medium-size city; traffic can be bad;
better K-12 schools within reach (housing price would be more than double
but that is not too big a concern)

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately it does not even include the town we are
currently in. Compared with closest city, living expense will be ~10% higher.
(sorry I mistakenly sent it to your mailbox the first time -- did not mean
to do that)
