Site Reliability Engineer, Autopilot Evaluation Infrastructure

THE ROLE
As a member of the Autopilot Infrastructure team, you will design, deploy and support a diverse set of backend services and tools that power Autopilot software and processes. The systems you build will have a large impact on Autopilot, from fleet data collection & processing, to Machine Learning workflows, to evaluation and validation of the Autopilot software stack.
As an engineer on the Autopilot Infrastructure team, you bring top-notch reliability engineering skills and can contribute to our systems immediately. A strong candidate will have strong background in backend, distributed systems and Linux administration.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, deploy and support backend services and tools that handle fleet data collection, batch processing, training, simulation, and evaluation based on real-world sensor data.
Influence architectural decisions with focus on security, scalability, reliability and high performance.
Setup and maintain monitoring, metrics & reporting systems for fine-grained observability and actionable alerting.
Work closely with the other Autopilot teams to design and implement backend components required for future Autopilot features and processes.
REQUIREMENTS
MUST
Experience with Python.
Experience with Linux, networking, storage and virtualization automation with tools like Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Puppet or similar.
PREFERRED
Experience with AWS services such as EC2/S3/RDS/SQS.
In-depth knowledge of container orchestrators and cluster management software.

Software QA Engineer, Autopilot

THE ROLE
As a Software QA Engineer, you will be responsible for validating all current and future Autopilot features on the path to full self-driving. You will work very closely with the development team to drive the validation of new and existing Autopilot features, and you will be responsible for reporting and investigating issues that are detected in the field. The work you do will directly impact the experience that our customers around the world have with Autopilot.
You will work with teams in Europe, US and Asia. This will require you to be flexible in terms of time. A strong candidate will possess excellent quality assurance skills with a great attention to detail, have prior industry experience testing sensory-based robotics motion, planning and controls features, and have a self-driven attitude and passion to deliver the highest quality software possible.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Help transition Tesla’s Autopilot to full self-driving by developing & validating features including Autosteer, Navigate on Autopilot, Smart Summon, and more.
Support in maintaining existing tooling/automation/simulation code and pitch your own validation requirements to the tooling team on new tooling projects.
Perform functional, stress, and performance tests on multiple levels within the system including vehicle software simulation, hardware-in-the-loop automation, and in-vehicle testing.
Leverage Tesla’s vast telemetry pipeline to monitor Autopilot performance in the field.
Identify effective test strategies for new/existing features and craft test plans accordingly.
Analyze issues detected during your tests or reported by others and work closely with firmware developers to fix issues and validate software changes.
Review of system requirements for testability and make sure software meets internal requirements.
Create data visualizations and metrics.
REQUIREMENTS
MUST
Evidence of solid coding skills in Python or C++. A live coding test will be part of the interview procedure.
Very strong English communication skills in conversation and writing.
Qualified in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Software Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems Engineering, or the equivalent in practical experience and evidence of exceptional ability.
Several years of experience feature validation in the field of automotive, aerospace, nautical or robotic systems, embedded or system-level software, or consumer electronics hardware/software.
Evidence of hands-on experience troubleshooting on both software and hardware level.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Outstanding attention to detail.
PREFERRED
Manual test execution is not considered as relevant experience.
Flexibility of traveling to various domestic and international destinations when necessary, to test vehicles on public roads, test tracks and proving grounds.
Experience testing ADAS features, and/or experience testing computer vision systems a big plus but not a must. Candidates with strong validation and test-automation experience from other fields of work, are welcomed to apply.
Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, Autopilot and Infotainment

Tesla is seeking a mechanical design engineers in the Autopilot, Infotainment and Electronics Product Design team. The engineer will lead the mechanical design of electronic systems for Dojo as well as Tesla vehicle systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with cross-functional teams to define product requirements and develop vehicle specific implementations.
Develop designs in CAD for both detailed parts and master model assemblies.
Perform tolerance analysis, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and other simulations and analyses before releasing designs for production.
Create 2D drawings appropriate for high-volume production and inspection methods.
Conduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews with suppliers and support tooling bring up.
Run validation tests and perform data analysis.
Provide production support to help identify and resolve issues.

Proficient in CAD, CATIA preferred.

Sr. Sensor Integration Engineer

THE ROLE
Tesla is seeking a Sensor Integration Engineer. This engineer is responsible for ensuring sensor performance is successfully achieved when integrated with other subsystems in the vehicle.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive the design and execution of sensing subsystems through the following:
Distill sensor product requirements into constraints and actionable engineering systems design discussions
Drive cross-functional sensor design discussions with electrical, software, manufacturing, mechanical design, and service teams
Translate sensor design discussions into architecture & design documents in the form of system block diagrams, functional requirements, and performance requirements
Define sensor hardware and software interfaces, and work with cross-functional software teams to enable successful feature implementation
Prototype early sensor development and bench-top validation to de-risk new technologies
Define an integration test plan for sensing hardware products or software features with integration milestones that focus on de-risking product or feature deployment and align with the program timeline
Develop data collection and analysis pipeline at all stages of the project
Execute initial sensor bring-up and integration testing at the vehicle level to validate system design assumptions and ensure the sensing system is characterized across a host of environments
Support system validation teams in developing electrical and software test plans
Perform change impact analysis for change requests by summarizing impacted devices, interfaces, and processes in the hardware and software domain
Use field data to improve design and performance of the sensor
As a sensor integration engineer, one must be able to:
Be able to think from first principles and develop new domain expertise very quickly
Be able to present risk/performance analysis and recommendations to cross-functional teams including execs
Be responsible for overall functional and performance readiness of the sensing system and its features at any point in the product life cycle
Serve as the central point-of-contact of a given sensing system for any issues during development or deployment
Understand and highlight impacts of hardware, software, or process changes
Understand and debug hardware and software interactions during design, launch, and deployment
Understand system performance constraints and its capability to support post-production features
Understand Tesla’s product roadmap and ensure sensor architectures align to satisfy those requirements

REQUIREMENTS
MUST
Bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics or related field
2-5 years of experience in systems design, systems architecture, systems integration, or related field
Strong electrical and embedded systems fundamentals
Hands-on technical experience debugging complex subsystems involving network microprocessors and software-controlled electrical or electromechanical devices

Sr. Camera Optical Engineer

The Role
This position in the Camera Engineering Team will focus on driving the design and engineering of various optical systems such as camera lenses, automotive glass parts through the use of state-of-the-art optical simulation tools and innovative technologies. This role will participant all aspect of design work from early architecture to final product assessment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As optics is linked to a variety of physical phenomena such as mechanics, fluid dynamics or thermals, the engineer will need to understand various aspects of the product design and think at the system level. The engineer will provide actionable feedback and design guidelines to the team members. Lab work is a component of the position especially for the characterization of lenses and coatings.
This role involves collaboration with designers, engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams and requires the ability to distill highly technical information and effectively communicate with other teams and management.
REQUIREMENTS
MUST
Good knowledge of physics and mathematics: Maxwell equations, geometrical optics, continuum mechanics, statistics.
Experience in lens design and straylight optimization independently
Be familiar with camera lens and module manufacturing process and metrology methods
Experience with diffractive optics system design
Excellent communication skills and ability to work with suppliers and cross function teams to solve technical problems
Experience with numerical simulations and computer programming
