在中国，国家机关主要领导人员的选举权由全国人民代表大会及其常委会掌握。
In China, the right to vote for key leaders of State organs is held by the NPC and its Standing Committee.
有选举权和被选举权的年满45周岁的中华人民共和国公民可以被选为中华人民共和国主席、副主席。
全国人大常委会组成人员必须从代表中提名。
Citizens of the People's Republic of China who have the right to vote, stand for election, and who have reached the age of 45 are eligible for election as the country’s president or vice president.
Members of the NPC Standing Committee must be nominated from among the deputies.
选举国家机构领导人员的程序，包括推荐候选人、讨论酝酿候选人、确定正式候选人、投票选举等几个步骤。
The procedure for electing leaders of State institutions includes several steps, such as recommending candidates, deliberating and discussing candidates, determining official candidates, and voting.
中华人民共和国主席、副主席，中华人民共和国中央军事委员会主席，十四届全国人大常委会委员长，最高人民法院院长和最高人民检察院检察长的人选，由人大主席团提名。
Candidates for president and vice president of the country, the chairman of the Central Military Commission, the chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, the president of the Supreme People's Court, and the procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate are nominated by the NPC Presidium, a group playing a leading role in organizing the work of the NPC.
国务院总理的人选，由国家主席提名。
Candidates for the premier are nominated by the president.
国务委员、各部部长、中国人民银行行长的人选，由国务院总理提名。
Candidates for the state councilors, ministers of ministries, and governor of the People's Bank of China are nominated by the premier.
值得注意的是，主席团不能直接提名正式候选人，必须经各代表团讨论、酝酿协商，保证选举的民主性。
It should be noted that the presidium cannot decide the official list of candidates. It must be fully discussed and deliberated by all NPC delegations to protect the democratic nature of the election.
最后，这些国家领导人员都由人大全体会议全体投票产生。候选人必须获得全体代表半数以上的赞成票，才能当选。
In the end, all candidate are voted on at the plenary of the NPC and need to win a majority vote of all NPC deputies to be officially elected.
选举通过无记名投票的方式进行。同时，会场设秘密写票处。
The elections are held by secret ballot and a private voting booth is set up in the venue.
