美国总统、民主党人拜登25日正式宣布竞选连任美国总统。

US President Joe Biden, despite a majority of Americans polled not supporting his run for a second term, announced via video on Tuesday that he will seek the White House again in 2024.

拜登当天发布视频正式宣布竞选连任美国总统的决定，并把矛头指向所谓共和党极端势力，称美国仍处在“为国家灵魂而战”的斗争中，他需要更多时间“完成这项工作”。

In declaring his formal entry into the 2024 campaign, Biden said he decided to run again because the "battle for the soul of America" is continuing, and he also referenced "MAGA extremists" in a jab at Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan.

拜登现年80岁。2020年美国总统选举中，他击败时任美国总统、共和党人特朗普，并于2021年1月开始担任美国总统。

特朗普现年76岁，2022年11月，他宣布再次竞选美国总统，目前在民调中领跑其他共和党人。特朗普24日晚发表声明“炮轰”拜登，称拜登执政是灾难性且失败的。

美国2024年总统选举将于当年11月举行。美国全国广播公司新闻台最新一项全国民调显示，美国民众对拜登和特朗普再次对垒的兴致不高。

Polls found that the majority of Americans, to whom Biden has appealed for support to finish the job, show no enthusiasm about his possible second term.
