“天才翻译家”签下遗体捐赠书!四个多月前曾为父亲签字……
A body donation agreement has brought renewed attention to Jin Xiaoyu, a "genius" translator whose story once touched millions of readers in early 2022.
The 51-year-old Jin lost his left eye at the age of 6 while playing with friends and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in his 20s.
“他想做的事,我要帮他完成”
On May 30, accompanied by his relatives and Huang Lina, secretary of the community party committee, Jin signed a body donation petition for himself.
This followed an earlier pledge made four months ago on Jan 18, when Jin also signed a body donation petition for his father, Jin Xingyong, who passed away on the same day.
Initially, Jin did not agree to his father's wish to donate his body, and they fought over the matter, and Jin Xingyong tore up the signed donation letter in front of his son. Later, he secretly signed a new one, keeping it from Xiaoyu.
“他捐,我也捐”
Shortly after his father passed away, Jin Xiaoyu also fell ill and was hospitalized. After being discharged from the hospital, he immediately found Huang and offered to donate his body.
"One can still do something meaningful after they pass away." This was what Jin learned from his father, who had always been a role model.
“被看见”的金晓宇
Jin and his father's story quickly swept through Chinese social media platforms after it was reported by the Hangzhou Daily in 2022.
The report, recounting how the family overcame adversity, brought Jin's translation works under the spotlight and made them popular on online bookstores and review platforms.
