The annual China (Xiamen) International Cross-Border E-commerce Exhibition opens this Thursday at Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center. The three-day fair is now in its third year. Exhibition officials said that the event promises to cover all major aspects of the cross-border e-commerce industry chain.The exhibition will cover more than 60,000 square meters. It will include over 2,000 international standard booths and three major exhibition areas.

City officials announced recently that a pair of new covid-19 vaccines are now available in Xiamen. The new shots are the Shenzhou Cell tetravalent vaccine and the Shiyao company's mRNA vaccine. A variant strain of the Omicron subtype remains the dominant covid-19 strain in China. The Shenzhou Cell vaccine contains an S-trimer protein of the Alpha, Beta, Delta and Omicron variants. The Shiyao Company's covid-19 mRNA vaccine covers Omicron's core mutational site, providing relatively robust cross-protection effect for Omicron virus strains. All vaccination sites in Xiamen currently offer appointment-free vaccinations to patients over the age of 60. A number of vaccination sites also provide appointment-free vaccinations for individuals over the age of three.

More than 60 grade-A scenic spots in Fujian jointly launched a program offering benefits for cardholders. The program offers ticket discounts and discounts on cultural tourism projects. Xiamen is home to 13 participating scenic spots, including the Xiamen Kulangsu (Gulangyu) Scenic Area, Xiamen Botanical Garden, Hulishan Fortress and the Kulangsu Gallery of Foreign Artifacts from the Palace Museum Collection. Officials said the goals of the guideline are to expand the industrial chain of new energy vehicles, to enhance the promotion and application of new energy vehicles and to boost the development of the electric vehicle industry.

City officials hosted on June 8 its National Ocean Awareness Day at the Xiatanwei Mangrove Park. Local authorities announced during the event the release of more than 800,000 juvenile fish and crab into local waters. The date is also World Oceans Day.

The release include more than 620,000 juvenile red seabream, 30,000 juvenile black seabream, and 30,000 juvenile yellowfin seabream. Over 120,000 juvenile mud crabs were also released.

Xiamen has conducted aquaculture release activities since 2003, releasing a combined total of more than seven billion juveniles of various species.

Local Commerce officials announced recently that the new five-billion-yuan Xiamen Supply Chain Collaboration Fund will offer financing support to eligible supply chain companies at an annual financing cost of between two and 2.5 percent.

A dozen banks are shortlisted as potential partners for the fund. The Commerce bureau has identified 240 enterprises that meet the application criteria to participate in the fund.

These enterprises can now apply for preferential interest rate financing from the Xiamen Supply Chain Collaboration Fund.

City officials recently announced the Xia-Gu cross-Strait swim race will hit the local waters on July 30 at Gulangyu's Haoyueyuan beach. A total of 3,000 swimmers will race the one-kilometer route to the island of Xiamen's Heping wharf.

The event includes 2,000 local swimmers as well as participants from across the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong and Taiwan. Ferry services between Xiamen and Gulangyu and between Xiamen and Zhangzhou will not be suspended during the event.
