FJ issues report on 130 provincial key projects in XM

The Overseas Chinese Museum (OCM) imported a five-ton shipment of more than 40 antiquities from Singapore via Haicang wharf last week. The items include furniture and artwork that once belonged to Tang Yu, an overseas Chinese entrepreneur in southeast Asia.

Chen Liren, the trustee of the Tang estate and the eldest grandson of Tan Kah Kee, donated the relics to the OCM for a future exhibition.

OCM deputy director Zhong Zhicheng said that the items include a pair of prehistoric mammoth teeth fossil and a 400-year-old bronze bell. Others items include a 2.6-meter long wooden desk, a two-meter wooden screen and a three-meter wide oil painting.

Data culled from multiple online travelling platforms suggest  that the price of air tickets and hotels jumped during the summer vacation. Prices are predicted to remain relatively high through mid-August. Travel analysts suggested that fares and bookings are set to decline at the end of August.

Jimei's upcoming Baitao Experimental School, which is affiliated with the Teachers Training College of Xiamen in Jimei, recently held an opening ceremony. The school will welcome its first class of approximately 500 students this September. Tongan's 24-classroom Tongxin Elementary School is also set to open this autumn. Xiamen Xihai Junior High School, a municipal key project, will also debut for the fall semester. The 54-classroom primary school and high school in Jimei  will accommodate a total of 2,400 students.

The Xiamen summer holiday box office reached 77.3 million yuan through mid-July, recording almost 1.9 million cinema visits, according to representatives of the Dengta Pro app.

Halfway through this summer, totals have surpassed last year's summer, box office in Xiamen (75 million yuan). A slate of 33 films have yet to be released during the summer season.

Local Public Security Bureau officials last week announced the opening of the Yundang Public Security e-Station at the entryway of the Siming Branch Yundang Police Station.

The e-station provides 24-hour self-service access to services such as driving license renewal, visa applications and photo booths.

Xiamen officials last week announced that the city recently oversaw the release of nearly 190,000 red grouper fry in the waters adjacent to the upcoming Xiangan airport. The release is the city's eighth fry release this year.

In a period stretching from last November through mid-July, the city has released 427 million shrimp fry, 19.3 million fish and 142,00 crabs in local waters.

National officials recently announced the fifth batch of firms to earn national designation as a Little Giant enterprise. The list includes 45 Fujian companies, 25 of which are based in Xiamen.

Xiamen ranks first in Fujian for the number of local firms to earn Little Giant designation. The Little Giant title is designed to recognize “specialized and sophisticated enterprises that produce new and unique products,” according to local authorities.

More than 160 local firms have earned the designation to date. Newly-designated local firms include Leedarson, Xiamen Leading Optics (aka Evetar), and Xiamen Keli Electronics.

The 3,671 recently-added Little Giant firms bring China's total number of Little Giant firms to a cumulative total of more than 10,000 enterprises.

A coalition of enterprises officially held the first membership meeting of the newly-formed Xiamen Minnan Prefabricated Dishes Industry Federation.

Xiamen Jianfu chairman Zhang Li will serve as the federation's president. The federation includes 45 member enterprises covering restaurants, retail establishments, shops and more.

Federation officials said that the organization will focus on research and development, equipment, packing, raw materials, warehousing and logistics. It will also promote the sale of prefabricated dishes.
