A man suddenly collapsed outside the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai on July 21, hitting his head on the rain-soaked road. The situation took a miraculous turn when a women dressed in a cosplay costume rushed forward to offer immediate assistance, kneeling on the ground regardless of the rain.
The warm-hearted hero was later found as a medical student at Soochow University, named Zhang Xinyu.
On reaching the man's side, Zhang promptly instructed him to take deep breaths and assessed his condition. Realizing that the man might be suffering from hypoglycemia, she began administering necessary first aid and comforted him until additional help arrived.
hypoglycemia /ˌhaɪpəʊɡlaɪˈsiːmiə/ n.
The surrounding onlookers also actively contributed, with some providing umbrellas for shelter, while others dialed emergency services for immediate medical assistance.
Upon the arrival of the ambulance, she accompanied the patient to Huashan Hospital, where he received further treatment. Thanks to Zhang's timely response and the medical care he received at the hospital, the man's condition improved significantly, and he was reported to be out of danger.
In the aftermath of the incident, Zhang received widespread admiration and praise. However, she humbly downplayed her heroic act, stating that she merely did what any doctor should do in such a situation.
For her, cosplay was a cherished hobby, while helping those in need was an inherent responsibility of a medical professional. She gratefully acknowledged the collective efforts of everyone present, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and communal support.
