Food is an integral part of life and culture in Chengdu as the city holds the title of UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. In 2010, Chengdu became the first city in Asia to earn the recognition for its rich culinary culture and traditions.
Chengdu is known as the birthplace of classic Sichuan dishes like kungpao chicken and mapo tofu, and is renowned for its spicy hotpot as well as its delectable street food.
在大运会期间，成都大运村的运动员餐厅除了提供各种国际美食，也包括著名的当地美食，如回锅肉（twice-cooked pork）、鱼香肉丝（fish-flavored shredded pork）、宫保鸡丁（kungpao chicken）、龙抄手（Long's chaoshou）、赖汤圆（Lai's tangyuan）、担担面（dandan noodles）和串串香（Chengdu skewers）。
During the FISU Games, the athlete's cafeteria in the Chengdu FISU Games Village will offer a diverse range of international cuisines, including famous local delicacies such as twice-cooked pork, fish-flavored shredded pork, kungpao chicken, Long's chaoshou (a type of dumpling), Lai's tangyuan (a stuffed, ball-shaped dessert made of glutinous rice flour), dandan noodles and Chengdu skewers.
