亚洲首个“美食之都”
Food is an integral part of life and culture in Chengdu as the city holds the title of UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. In 2010, Chengdu became the first city in Asia to earn the recognition for its rich culinary culture and traditions.
Chengdu is known as the birthplace of classic Sichuan dishes like kungpao chicken and mapo tofu, and is renowned for its spicy hotpot as well as its delectable street food.
During the FISU Games, the athlete's cafeteria in the Chengdu FISU Games Village will offer a diverse range of international cuisines, including famous local delicacies such as twice-cooked pork, fish-flavored shredded pork, kungpao chicken, Long's chaoshou (a type of dumpling), Lai's tangyuan (a stuffed, ball-shaped dessert made of glutinous rice flour), dandan noodles and Chengdu skewers.
再“香”也要克制
In an interview with FISU Acting President Leonz Eder on Thursday, he shared food advice for non-Chinese athletes gearing up for the World University Games. Eder recommended that athletes stick to their usual diet routines, ensuring they can perform at their best.
“But after the competition, try everything what they offer. Because this is also part of the culture.”
