有几个问题你得先搞清楚了再申请不迟：
1. 有一作文章了么？什么档次的？
2. 想去哪个层次的实验室？
3. 自己老板会不会极力推荐自己？
4. 以后想做哪方面的课题？
5. 你现在的学校怎么样？你老板在领域内的影响力如何？
6. 想去哪里？

多谢提醒！这些都想好了。虽然目标不是大牛实验室，不过我想换领域，这方面要吃些
亏。一作是JBC档次的两篇。还有两篇差些的在写。另外一篇综述。

Try to start after the submission your paper. It might take a year or longer
to publish it.
Try to have oral presentation in small conferences, like CSHL, keystone, or
GRC meetings. Even poster will help a lot. In contrast, big meetings are
usually waste of time.
Be patient. A position in a good lab could be offered in 3 months after
interview.
So, be a little bit calculating. you will figure out the time you need to
land a good postdoc position.
More wisely, try to set the defense time after you become a postdoc.

I can't agree more with you on the importance of conference presentation, I
personally know several people got their post-doc positions that way.

实在过奖了，学校不是tier 1，何况现在水涨船高，不少PhD都有PNAS或者更好的文章
呢。
