发现现在convertible laptop是个趋势啊，各个厂家出了很多不同样子convertible,有
可以翻到背面点，有直接从键盘底座拔出来点，有屏幕可以左右或者上下旋转点，有屏
幕可以滑动点，等等。
比如lenovo yoga 2, sony vaio flip/tab/duo, dell xps 12, asuse,acer等等
有没有什么好点总结？买哪种比较好？
平时用途还是正常点用法更多，不过坐床上或者看电影什么感觉转换以下更好。

it is a big deal if you have a grant. mine is already cut by 10%, another is
still waiting.

我在用yoga2. 给你举几个例子吧。
1. 在厨房，空间小，随便找个地方tent mode，就可以开始看电视或者菜谱了。你如果
嫌手脏，还可以用声控。
2. 玩store里面的平板游戏时，直接stand mode放在腿上或者桌上，不用手捧着，比平
板省力，屏幕还比普通平板大很多
3. 在赖床的时候，侧身，tent mode，刚好是portrait view，上网超方便。
4. 看pdf，tent mode 立桌上或者tablet mode放桌上，portrait view都挺方便的。

如果你非要带个键盘，比如在客户那干活儿啥的，还是买个大一点的笔记本

我也觉得这个可能是个缺陷吧。
像xps 12那种应该可以避免这个问题，也可以tent吧？

我去店里摸过xps12，感觉非常好。做工很好，手感也很好，屏幕也很好。总之，就是
很好。

xps12那个框子看上去有点傻，好像还比较重，个人不太喜欢。yoga的几个模式xps12倒
是都可以实现。
我不是太在意键盘暴露，桌上也没什么会损坏键盘的东西。

It is very hard if your old PI is not a VA investigator to be in the system.
Trust me, I asked. The PI next door to me is a VA investigator and I have
been asking her how to be a VA investigator. Very difficult.

查了好几个老板已有的RO1，以前每个RO1都是每年30万左右，怎么今年都变成十几万了？

才砍17%已经够幸运的了。我们系里从NIGMS拿钱的人大部分都被砍了24%。

具体怎么样我也不清楚。但是听发考题版上的人说是有些预算是没有办法削减的，
所以要削就只能削普通的grant了。

nih里的工作人员的工资,加上director自己要搞些政绩工程.只能从regular grant里减
了.

刚从NIH回来。里面的人说有些东东减不了，例如工资。
所以实际操作资金的减少要远大于平均值。

Do they offer grants to study the NIH itself?

I suspect that the companies selling reagents will take the biggest hit, as
PIs will likely try to save people and cut spending on supplies first.
If the sequestration continues with another 5-6% cut in 2014, we'll start to
see significant job loss. Assuming a 5% scale back of the work force, we
can all calculate how many people will go in our own department.
Let's hope that the congress will sort it out this summer and take a more
benign approach of budget cut instead of this crazy frontloaded approach.

那算起来也不对呀，就算只有95%的钱是可以压缩的，那也就顶多把5%变成6%来减了，
怎么大家减的钱貌似都接近或者超过10%？莫非就象有人指出的那样，有些政绩工程的
钱也是不能减的？
另外，版上那么多人对生物科学那么自恨，其实NIH里面的只有NIGMS 是由基础研究的
人把持的吧?这个机构反而是最清廉的一个了。其他大多由MD把持的才是白花花的银子
投进去连声音都不响一下的。

她确实可以算是这个版的living Lei-Feng了
在这里抱怨的人没有一个是绝对偏激的
只不过上来发泄一下
哪些人好哪些人不好我们心理都有数
痛恨的是那些只知道push无极限的家伙们，为了自己的钱途只会最大限度的压榨
可是对于那些真正做科研对下属support的PI，有时候他们拿不到钱我都替他们着急惋
惜，见到这些PI手下就经常劝他们努力点再努力点，你们老板倒了你上哪里去找这么好
的老板。
可是风光的经常是那些极品
NIH应该建立一个网站，列出每个老板，让在他们实验室工作过的学生千老实验员打分
，分数低的别想从政府拿钱，自己拉赞助去。这样也能保护那些真正的PI。
